The Moors and Christians Festival of Alcoy Spain, in honor of Saint George. On the second day of the day festival affiliated groups decked out in medieval costume as Moors or Christians fiesta on the streets and in the bars of Alcoy, in honor of Patron Saint George. In 1276, different historical figures related to the various Muslim uprisings taking place in the region, led to Saint George becoming the patron saint of Alcoy. He is attributed with the intervention in a battle to defend the population who were under attack by the North African Muslim 'Moors'.
